A Revolutionary Seismic System for Monitoring CO2 Plume Migration

Our SeismityAlertTM system combined with Surface Linear Vibrators (SLV) can create a fully autonomous seismic system, thanks to our data acquisition partners, GPUSA. The MicroVibTM, a new seismic source type developed by GPUSA, is a lightweight but powerful source that can output up to 22,000 Lbs. of linear force. The electrical motors in the source are powered by a combination of solar and battery power, which has been proven to be successful at our test site near Houston. GPUSA provides a unique source-earth anchoring system which enables direct transfer of the linear vibrations in to the ground. By securing the source to a deep helical anchor, the seismic waves start propagating below the weathering layer, ideal for time lapse seismic studies. A SeismityAlertTM sensor is deployed at the base of the helical anchor as a source monitor. When the source is inactive, the monitoring sensor becomes a deep passive seismicity sensor. The fully autonomous seismic system is designed to monitor CO2 plume migration on a daily basis and passive seismic continuously.
